Summer Camp Information

The information listing found on this page about summer soccer camps is for the convenience of those beginning a search to find a camp for their child. The Fairmount Soccer Association makes no comments or recommendation concerning any soccer camp. It is up to the individual parent or guardian to carefully research any camp to which they send their children.

We at Fairmount Soccer would like to suggest a few guidelines as you consider a soccer camp for your child which we hope will be helpful..

  1. Don't believe everything you read. Remember that beautiful brochure the camp sent you is their marketing tool and it going to accentuate the positive.
  2. A good rule of thumb is the younger the child, the shorter the camp session should be and the closer to home the camp should be.
  3. Arrange to talk to the camp director and ask a lot of questions. You need to know the camp's philosophy, what's the camper/counselor ratio, if any of the coaches at the camp are licensed, and what are the coach's qualifications.
  4. If you are enrolling a female player we suggest you make sure there are female counselors.
  5. If a camp boasts a big name player check out how much of the time they will be there, working with the campers, if at all.
  6. Don't forget to ask, "What happens when it rains?"
  7. Ask about their non-soccer activities such as swimming.
  8. If it's a day camp make sure you know what the lunch arrangements are.
  9. If it's a over-night camp ask about the accomodations, and find out about the meals, and don't forget to ask what the player needs to bring with them to camp.
  10. Obtain references. Find someone in your area who has sent a child to the camp and get the straight scoop from them.
